Get Involved with the Weekend

Volunteer for a work position, facilitate a workshop, advertise in our program, be a merchant, contribute to the Linda Bacon-Bass Memorial Send-A-Sister Fund. If you want to get more involved with the Weekend, this page has the info you need.

Facilitate a Workshop

Every year, we aspire to put together a schedule of workshops that are as interesting and diverse as the many women who attend the Weekend - and since it's the women of the Weekend who facilitate the workshops, we always wind up with an excellent array of topics to choose from!

Workshops are facilitated by campers, performers, merchants, and Weekend workers. If you're planning to attend the Weekend in any capacity, and have an idea for a workshop and want to offer one, please fill out our online application or give us a call at 215.546.4890. For campers, workshops are counted as your 2-hour workshift.

Volunteer to be a Weekend Worker!

Sisterspace is planned and executed entirely by volunteers. If you're interested in working the Weekend, please contact us at volunteers@sisterspace.org so that we know you're out there. It would be great if you could inform us of any special skills or qualifications that you have (i.e. - lifeguard certification, medical or nursing degree, etc.).

The requirements to be a worker at the Weekend are:

  • a minimum 16 hour work commitment,
  • the ability to arrive on Thursday, September 4th and stay until Monday, September 8th (for most positions), and
  • a $20 minimum worker contribution (basically, this defrays the cost of your food).

Currently, we have open worker positions for various kitchen duties (which are very important jobs!); as more positions become open or available, we will post them here.

"Part-Time" worker positions may also be available. These positions require less of a time commitment (only 8 hours) but more of a financial contribution. Contact us at the email address above if you're interested in one of these positions.

Be a Merchant at the Weekend...

At the Weekend, our Merchants area features a wonderful variety of queer-friendly merchandise, crafts, and services. If you are a vendor or craftsperson or bodyworker who would like to be a part of our event, click here for further information.

Advertise with SisterSpace!

Advertising in the Sisterspace Weekend program book is a great way to support Sisterspace, and also a great way to promote your business to a wide segment of lesbians from all over the greater mid-Atlantic area. We have a number of different ad sizes available - one of them is sure to fit your budget! For more information about advertising, click here.

Contribute to the Linda Bacon-Bass Memorial Send-A-Sister Fund

The Linda Bacon-Bass Memorial Send-A-Sister Fund's success is entirely contingent upon the generosity of the Sisterspace community. Your donations make it possible for women to attend the weekend who would otherwise be left out due to their financial circumstances. We all very much appreciate the kindness demonstrated by those who choose to give; so if you have the means, please consider making a contribution. You can contribute by filling out the amount on your registration form when you mail it in to Sisterspace, or you can click the button below to contribute by PayPal. (Note - you don't need a PayPal account to contribute via the PayPal interface. Credit cards are also accepted.) Thanks for your support!

Spread the Word: Publicity and Cross-Promotion

Help us get the word out about the Weekend! If you're able to take some of our fliers to any local parties, bars, or other lesbian-oriented spaces or events, email us at sweekend@sisterspace.org. Also - if you are involved with a lesbian organization, community, publication, etc. and are interested in working out some sort of cross-promotional arrangement, we're all ears! Contact us at the email address above, and let's talk. We look forward to hearing from you!
