SisterSpace Annual Meeting

Calling all of SisterSpace! It's time to meet up for the SisterSpace Annual Meeting!
Join us on Sunday, January 8th at 12 p.m., join us at The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Center at Penn, located at 3907 Spruce St. Philadelphia. For directions, click here to visit a map. The center is accessible by train, trolley, bus and ample parking is available on the street on Sundays.
This is the one time a year where our entire membership is invited to come together, review our work over the past year, plan for the upcoming year and beyond and to elect new officers! This year, we are holding elections for President, Treasurer, and one Director position. See below for position descriptions. Women eligible to vote are limited to 2011 volunteers, but all are welcome to attend. We will review feedback from the 2011 weekend festival and begin planning for our historic 35th anniversary celebration!!
You don't want to miss this event - very exciting plans in the works for our 35th anniversary - women interested in volunteering in any capacity are especially encouraged to attend.
Snacks and some food will be served - feel free to bring something to share!

Election Information:
A statement of candidacy (about a paragraph in length explaining your interest in the position and any relevant experience/qualific ations), should be sent to sistrgen@sisterspace.org by Thursday, January 5, 2012.
*President: Term = 2 years*
The President shall serve as the chief executive officer of the corporation in all duties required by the organization. She shall perform all duties incident to her office and such other duties as may be required by law, by the Articles of Incorporation, or by the organization Bylaws, or which may be prescribed from time to time by the Board of Directors. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors and at all meetings of the members. The President provides organizational oversight, support to the weekend planning committee and remain readily available to support fundraising, marketing, stewardship and other necessary organizational matters.
Any woman seeking the office of President must have served as a recognized member of the SODV weekend Planning Committee or Board of Directors within 3 years of election to this office.
*Treasurer: Term = 2 years *
The main duties of the Treasurer are to ensure the fiscal responsibility and financial records of the organization. The treasurer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, accounting, providing timely financial reports to the SODV Board, ensuring compliance with all relevant non-profit and IRS codes (including filing taxes annually), writing checks, issuing reimbursements, working closely with the budget & finance committee and paying annual organizational expenses in a timely manner. The treasurer must have accounting and budget knowledge, and be responsible for sensitive and confidential information. Any woman seeking the office of Treasurer must have served as a recognized member of the SODV weekend Planning Committee or Board of Directors within 3 years of election to this office.
*Director (1 position up for election)*
*Term = 2 years*
All Directors are expected to participate in meetings, be well-organized, and reliable. It is necessary to be a team player and understand your role in upholding the mission and values of sisterspace, as well as represent the organization with pride, and provide the sisterspace membership with positive respect and excellent service. Directors MUST participate on an approved SODV committee, offer committees assistance, and report committee activity to the Board of Directors.
